Database Management Software/Applications

A field that used to strike fear into employees, database management software has evolved.

Your database is your business. It’s a whole ecosystem that should be carefully managed (see Database Solutions). But running that business, collecting information and extracting it to provide valuable insight is the job of database management software (DMS).

You might not realize it, but when your customers or suppliers put their name and address and orders into your website work order form, they’re using DMS–or they should be.

Good DMS, to a large extent, depends on good Data Architecture. Working with your employees, ATC can put you on the path to well structured data. Outmoded, redundant and siloed systems are holding you back. Many companies collect data they don’t need while ignoring data that could transform their business.

DMS is another area where RPA has taken a leading position. Instead of having employees craft database queries each time you need new information, a pre-programmed RPA can execute the task in seconds scheduled every week, quarter or year and send you a summary or a spreadsheet.

DMS has become very user friendly. Where crafting a Microsoft Access query might have stymied your staff, new DMS interfaces are intuitive and offer helpful prompts.

There are excellent local and cloud based DMS solutions for every sized business. You can’t afford to ignore what your business is trying to tell you.
